Akatsuka (Gifu, Japan) was an "Ambidextrous Assassin" in his first season with the club. Mizuki's name could be found throughout the League Leaders page in 2025. He tied for the league lead in innings pitched (101.1), complete games (1) and games started (15). Akatsuka also struck out 87 batters (5th) and won 6 games (T3rd). A 4.89 ERA was also a team best for qualified pitchers and after the season was given the Harry Muir Award as the Barnstormers Most Outstanding Pitcher. 

Akatsuka was a workhorse for C-K and during a 10 game, late season stretch, Mizuki won all 4 of the games he started, throwing 26.1 IP, while striking out 29 and only walking 3 batters, helping Chatham-Kent to go 7-3 in those 10 games, securing the 4 seed in the playoffs.

Brito (6'5", 215 lb) utilizes a clean over-the-top delivery, playing in the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations from 2022-2024. In three season, Moises threw 106 innings, while striking out 129 (11 K/9 inn.) with a 3.40 ERA and a miniscule WHIP of 1.00. In 2024, Moises ranked as high as 31st in the Dodgers organization.

In 2025, Brito (Bani, Dominican Republic) moved to the Ligue de Baseball Majeur Du Quebec to play for Les Guerriers de Granby. In 10 games, Brito kept up the strikeouts with 52 K's in 52 innings pitched.

Forever remembered for recording the first strikeout in Barnstormers history, the 24 year old continued his successful 2024 season, earning a spot on the South All-Star team. In 2025, Ryan (Tecumseh, Ontario) increased his workload, finishing third on the team in innings pitched with 52.2.  

Career wise, Ryan has 72 strikeouts, good enough for second in franchise history, a 4.75 ERA and 4 wins. His ability to start a game, or come out of the bullpen, will be a valuable asset to the Barnstormers for the 2026 season. 

A couple of standout moments for Aden from the 2025 season include his start in the infamous playoff victory game against Hamilton, where Ryan went a strong 4.2 IP, keeping the Barnstormers in the game, during a must-win situation. 

His performance of the year came on the road on July 8th in Guelph. Ryan went 7 strong shutout innings, allowing only 4 hits and no walks, while striking out 5, leading C-K to a 5-1 victory.

In his two seasons with the Barnstormers, Fukuda (Fukuoka, Japan) has put together an extremely impressive resume. Mitsuki has been named to the South All-Star team twice, was named a 2nd team CBL All-Star in 2025, where defensively, the stand out catcher threw out a record setting 20 would-be base stealers to go along with 30 assists.

In his two seasons in Chatham-Kent, Fukuda (26 y/o) has 80 hits, a career .323 batting average and a .406 on-base percentage. Fukuda's 2025 season was capped off when he was given the Ed Pinnance Award as the team's Most Outstanding Player.

Last year, it didn't take long for Fukuda to get his season off and running. On Opening Day against the Kitchener Panthers, with the first two batters already aboard, Fukuda launched one of the longest home runs hit at Fergie Jenkins Field over the left field wall. Mitsuki led the team to a 9-1 victory and Fukuda was named the Player of the Game.

Hailing from Sasebo, Japan, Ohta quickly became one of the most dynamic players on the Barnstormers roster last season. A true utility weapon, Yushin seamlessly moved between the outfield, the hot corner at third base and behind the plate; wherever the team needed him most.

At the plate, Ohta was one of the club’s most productive hitters in 2025. He finished the season with a .286 batting average and an impressive .405 on-base percentage, helping him post a .929 OPS - all ranking among the top marks on the team. His power was equally important, launching six home runs, the second most on the roster.

Defensively, Ohta’s arm became a major asset. When catching, he erased nearly a third of would-be base stealers, throwing out 28.6% of runners, making him the third-best mark in the league.

Sillett (London, ON) will be in his third year with the club and at still only 22 years of age. In his first two seasons, Sillett is a high IQ player and has been a stalwart defender at First Base, and also has the ability to find first base with the bat. His 29 career hits to go along with 22 walks and 10 hit by pitches helped push his OBP to .314 in his career.

Much like the NHL team of the same name, Sillett is no stranger to handing losses to the Maple Leafs. In 6 career games where Sillett has gotten the start versus Toronto, the Barnstormers are 5-1. Sillett sports a .367 OBP, .348 SLG and a .715 OPS, 4 runs, 6 RBIs and 3 doubles in those games.

Groening showed up to the team just after the 2025 All-Star break and quickly proved that he belonged. In 2025, Andy hit .265, with an .842 OPS, adding 3 home runs, 1 of which occurred in the playoffs.

Groening, at only 19 years of age, is the youngest player signed to the Canadian Baseball League and just finished playing for the Northark Pioneers of the NJCAA where through 11 games, holds a .883 OPS. 

The big hitter (6'2", 222lb) cemented his place in the hearts of Barnstormers fans back on August 3rd. In just his 4th game with the team, Groening had himself a day, by going 3-5 with 4 runs, 4 ribbies and clubbed a pair of mammoth home runs to lead Chatham-Kent to a 14-4 win against the Maple Leafs, leading him to be named the leagues Player of the Week.

Johnston (6'5", 216lb) hails from Fruitvale, British Columbia and is coming to Chatham-Kent after two outstanding seasons playing in the France Division 1 Baseball League. In 2024 & 2025, Johnston put up some impressive numbers. Over almost 200 plate appearances, Kian batted .338 with an on-base percentage of .454 and an OPS of .925. Johnston also added 3 homers and 32 RBIs for La Rochelle Boucaniers. In 2024, he led the top league in France with a .479 OBP (21 points higher than the next best hitter) and in 2025, he led his team in all the "slash-lines" (AVG,OBP,SLG & OPS).

Morin is returning for his third year with the club. Last season, Spencer was able to keep the momentum going from a strong rookie, by posting a .282 BA. Morin is the ultimate "Moneyball" player, with the ability to get on base. His 51 career CBL hits, 25 walks, 15 hit by pitches have caused plenty of problems for opposing pitchers, while also leading the Barnstormers in career Sacrifices with 7. Morin has also proved himself in the field, playing an impressive right field, tallying 4 outfield assists in 2025. 

But you cannot talk about Spencer Morin without bringing up THE GAME. With the Barnstormers facing playoff elimination and trailing by 2 runs in the bottom of the 11th inning, Morin stepped up to the plate with 2 runners in scoring position and former World Series Champion, now Hamilton Cardinals closer, Fernando Rodney, on the bump. Down 0-1 in the count, Spencer Morin smoked a frozen rope to wall in right-center field to tie the game and also scored the winning run 4 batters later in a true "where were you when" moment for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.

Lee is a local Chatham-Kent player who has made his way to the Barnstormers’ roster for the inaugural season after attending the local tryouts of the team in 2023. With 131 at bats in 2024, his batting average was .252 including 18 runs scored. His speed allowed him to hit 9 doubles. Other than baseball, Lee is a CCBA Atlantic Champion & National Bronze in baseball, but also a javelin high level athlete. He loves to help others develop themselves in baseball or any other sports.

Mackie (27 y/o) returns for his third season with the club and in his first 2 season in C-K, Mackie has .357 OBP to go along with a .710 OPS and has hit 4 home runs. Mackie's versatility defensively, also makes him an asset to the team. Barnstormers hitters are never afraid to "take one for the team", but Robert takes that to a different level. In a little over 200 Barnstormers plate appearances, Mackie has been hit by a pitch an astounding 17 times.

A couple of accomplishments from 2025 come to mind for Robert Mackie with the first being on June 14th and the Barnstormers trailing by a run, Mackie hit a long, 2-run homer, giving the Barnstormers the lead and the eventual victory. The second accomplishment happened July 26th on the road in Barrie, where Mackie was the middle-man for a 5-4-3 Triple Play (Vaselenak to Mackie to Sillett), the first in Barnstormers history

Mizuki is a 27 year old switch pitcher. He attended Rikkyo University in Tokyo, Japan. He was in High School the first time he attempted to "switch pitch" in a game. Prior to the IBL, he played with the Japan Islanders of the Empire Professional Baseball League in Japan in 2022-23. Also Pitched in the Frontier League in 2022-23 for the Empire State Greys and the New Jersey Jackals. This past winter (2024-25), Akatsuka pitched in the Nicaraguan Winter League. In Major League Baseball, there has only been 6 switch pitchers ever recorded and only 2 since 1900.

Garrett Day was one of the top closers in the IBL for 2024. Day was 2nd in the league in saves, and had the lowest ERA (1.66 over 21.2 IP) on the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers of pitchers who threw more than 4 innings. From July 7th until the end of the year (including playoffs), Day pitched 11 innings without giving up any runs. He also had a win, 3 saves and a 0.82 WHIP over that period. Throughout the 2024 season, Day only surrendered runs in 3 of his 19 appearances.

On July 13th 2024, Eric Pettipiece set the tone for a Chatham-Kent Barnstormers double header sweep over the Hamilton Cardinals. In 2024, Trent Sillett was a defensive standout for the club. His defense at 1B allowed the team to move Strong to 3B at times, creating an excellent infield defense. On June 25th 2024, Sillett was the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers Player of the Game, in which he reached base twice via a hit and a walk, but defensively is where he shined. He recorded 14 out of a possible 27 putouts, many of which, were highlight plays.

In 2024, Evan Morrison was also a part of the McPherson College Bulldogs in Kansas. While playing in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference in the NAIA, Morrison batted an astounding .432 with an OPS of 1.097. A great contact hitter, striking out only 7 times in 108 Plate Appearances, while also stealing 16 bases in only 40 games. During the KCAC Tournament, Morrison was a standout for the Bulldogs. He went 6 for 13 (.462) with 3 Runs, 3 RBIs and 2 Stolen Bases in the 3 games.

On June 16th at Fergie Jenkins Field, Mackie got on base 4 times with 2 singles, a double and a walk, scored 2 runs and drove in 3, helping lead the Barnstormers to a 13-3 win over Kitchener.

In 2024, the word that kept coming up in the press box to describe Sadler Goodwin was "Smooooooth". Goodwin did not make an error during the regular season, showing range, a great glove and a cannon of an arm. But even with the tremendous defense and strong bat, Goodwin might best be remembered as the winning pitcher, in what can only be described as the Game of the Year for the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers. On Sunday, August 11th, Goodwin was the 6th Barnstormer to come in and pitch during a 3 hour and 40 minute, 12 inning marathon. Goodwin struck out 2, without giving up an earned run over 2 innings, which allowed the Barnstormers to win in Walk Off fashion over the Guelph Royals on a single by Anthony Polowick, scoring Robert Mackie to win 7-6.

Spencer Morin had an underrated 2024 season for the Barnstormers. Although he didn't qualify because of limited Plate Appearances, Morin led the team in On Base Percentage with .465 and was 4th in OPS with .835. He also led the team in Sacrifice Bunts and tied for 3rd in Stolen Bases all while playing a solid Right Field with only a single error all year. Morin is also coming off another Provincial Championship, playing at St. Clair College.
