Welcome to Spencer Marcus, the first signature of the history
On September 8 and 9, the Barnstormers held a tryout camp for local players to give them a chance to showcase themselves to the coaching staff. We wanted to see what kind of talent we had locally to invite players to our very first training camp next spring. The caliber of baseball in the Inter County Baseball League means that the number of players who can play at this level is limited. To our great surprise, there were several candidates who caught our attention. We must therefore recognize the immense work done by the coaches and everyone involved in Chatham-Kent Minor Baseball Association for having developed these players and bringing them to this caliber of play. Congratulations and thank you for your great work. Your work has allowed us that the very first player we just signed is a product of the Chatham-Kent Minor Baseball Association. The first ever player to sign is Spencer Marcus.
Marcus is a Chatham born and resident. He is a sports fanatic. He grew up watching sports on television. He was introduced to baseball at the age of five. He completed all the stages of Chatham minor baseball before ending up with the Great Lake Canadians where he played for four seasons between 1995 and 1999. These years prepared him for one season in Junior College in Kansas with the Dodge City Conquistadors. Then, he played three seasons for Niagara University (division 1) where he obtained a bachelor's degree in education. His statistics were brilliant, and he stood out for his offensive skills and his versatility.
Congratulations Spencer and welcome to the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers baseball club.
